Before connecting printer to PC download and install ZDesigner driver on your PC. It is two versions of this driver- 5 and 10. If you using printer just to print postage labels- use older version 5 because it is more user friendly.
After printer is installed and connected go to Control Panel- Devices and Printers , right click on Printing preferences, set correct label size, go to Dithering, set to None and click Apply. Then go to Properties-Tools-Action and run Calibration. Printer will Calibrate itself and after that will be ready for printing.
To install as a network printer go to Control panel- Add printer-Network printer- Choose Printer isn't on a list- type in IP address from the label on side of printer (see my note below)- Device type-Print Server-Choose model of your printer. Install, configure- Add label size, calibrate and you are ready to go.
Note: I changed my Broadband provider to Virgin Media and now my LAN IP pool is different from most popular so I stopped setting Permanent IP address and putting sticker with it on a side of a printer .
To find out your IP address you can install Zdownloader , connect Printer to Router , click Search and program will display IP address.
To configure wireless printer please install and run Zebra Setup Utility- Configure Printer Connectivity- Wireless- Static-Hostname (give name to your printer)- IP Address –Subnet Mask –Default Gateway – Next page ESSID: type in your router name (Case sensitive)– Choose security mode of your router-Next-tick String in WPA Settings and type in your router password in PSK Name –Next-Finish. Settings will be sent to printer. It will reset and if everything gone well you should see network LED will lit green and printer will print configuration label.
Please bear in mind that Bluetooth is not for printing but for configuration purposes.
If you need express delivery- please choose this delivery option from drop down menu when paying for the item.
Some troubleshooting tips:
If printer installs but when you send print job - nothing happens:
Go to Control Panel - Devices & Printers - Right click on printer- choose Remove. Turn printer Off then On again. Wait until printer will install again, go to Printer Preferences- Options-set label size- Tools- Run Calibration and try to print delivery label again. Don't print Windows test print. If unsuccessful - repeat procedure until Windows install printer correctly or can try through Device Manager-Printers- Uninstall.
If printer prints empty labels:
First off all make sure that labels are loaded facing up.
Use labels supplied with printer. Some labels are designed for Thermal Transfer only- they work with ribbon only.
If printer is printing empty label after printing correct one- Run Calibration.
If Cutter cuts label on a beginning of second label- set Backfeed to None.
