JEWISH MEMOIRES BOOK NAZI GERMANY WW2 BERLIN PALESTINE 1937- 1943

This is a memoires autographed book belonging to a young Jewish girl named Miriam Kastenbaum, starting in Berlin in 1937 and continuing until Tel Aviv, 1941. The book includes over 50 handwritten dedications, poems, and blessings, written mostly in German by her Jewish classmates and friends in Berlin during the years 1937–1939, on the very eve of the Holocaust. The entries are touching, often explicitly Jewish in identity and pride, several mention not to be ashamed of being Jewish, to stay faithful to one’s people, and hope for future freedom. Many pages are signed with full names, such as Ruth, Vera, Ellen, Ingeborg, Ziporah, Edith, and others. Dates include 1937, 1938, 1939 – all written in Berlin. Then, suddenly, from 1940–1941, the entries shift to Hebrew and German inscriptions written in Tel Aviv, showing clearly that Miriam managed to escapre Nazi Germany. This book capturs voices of Jewish school childrens in Berlin at the threshold of annihilation. Good condition. Size:8x5 inch.
