Hetman Ivan Mazepa is the first in a series of high-tech Ukrainian corvettes equipped with modern air defense, anti-submarine warfare, electronic warfare, missile and artillery systems. It will become the most powerful combat unit and flagship of the national military fleet, significantly strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities at sea. By the decision of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the construction of this ship began in the Republic of Turkey in 2021 and is being completed during the repulse of the Russian invasion.

The postal issue is dedicated to those who courageously defend our sea and coast from Russian aggression, who from the first days of the war met the invaders with fire at sea, on Zmeinyi Island and the Crimean crossings, in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia, who ensured the arrival of the cruiser Moskva on the well-known course, who liberated the Kherson region and drove Russian ships away from our shores, who destroyed important enemy military facilities and oil ports with powerful missile strikes, cleared the fairways of Russian mines and ensured the safety of navigation and maritime transportation in the interests of the national economy of Ukraine.
