Antique Chinese Stoneware Ginger Jar Coastal Scene possibly late 17th Century?

Interpretation of the form, condition and hand painted design points firmly to the late 17thC Ming Dynasty. 

This tactile circular form Ginger jar / Guan was originally used for carrying herbs and spices for export markets.

Main body has cobalt blue designs over cream/grey grounds. The hand painting illustrates fishing, a boat and a village scene in simple outline form.

On the bottom there is a marking in cobalt blue.

The base rim is nibbled, the neck opening is generally in good condition with a few nibbles. No lid present.

Widest diameter - 13cm, Height - 13cm
