LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE
SUNDAY THIRD PAGE COMIC STRIPS
By Leonard Starr
The LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE comic strip,
created by Harold Gray and distributed
by Tribune Media Services, was in print from August 5, 1924
to June 13, 2010.
After Gray’s death in 1968, the strip went through a number of
artists and writers.
Artists contributing to the strip included Bob Leffingwell, Henry
Arnold, and Henry Raduta.
Eventually Tex Blaisdell settled in for the artwork and Elliot
Caplin did the scripts. This team
remained in place until late 1973. In early 1974,
David Lettick had a brief stint on the strip
before the syndicate chose to revert to reprints of classic Gray
stories. In December 1979,
the strip was jump started by Leonard Starr, who stayed with
the newly retitled ANNIE until
February 2000. After Starr’s departure, the strip
lapsed back into reprints until June 2000 when
Jay Maeder assumed scripts and Andrew Pepov the
artwork. Pepov’s successors were
Alan Kupperberg and, later, Ted Slampyak. The strip
limped along and finally ground
to a close in 2010 after an impressive run of 86 years.

Combine purchases and save on shipping!
Use the Shopping Cart option to confirm your purchases
and request adjusted shipping charges.
The easiest way to do this is to place the items you
want to purchase in your shopping cart. When you open
the
shopping cart, across from your name are the words in blue
"Request Total." Click these words and the request total page
is generated that shows the items that you are committing
to buy and a box for a message to you the seller. You can now click
the blue box that states “Commit to Buy” & submit the request.
This works best on a computer rather than a cell phone.
If something goes wrong and eBay charges you the full amount,
don't worry, I will refund the excess when I pack your order.
