| Optical calcite from Madagascar. Virtually all optical calcite (AKA calcite rhomb) sold are mined in either Mexico or Brazil. The third location they can come from is Madagascar. The ones from Mexico rarely have rainbows in them and the ones from Brazil that have rainbows are usually just clear with some rainbows. The ones from Madagascar have lots of internal crystal growth structures that all reflect light and rainbows. In natural sunlight you will see more colors than you see in the pictures and video taken with studio lights. Last month was the first time in 5 years that I was able to find someone that had the Madagascar crystals and he only had 55 pounds of them. No idea if I will ever have these available again. You will receive the exact crystal shown in the photo and video that is 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/4 inch by 2 inch and weighs 15 ounce. Wholesale Volume Purchasing What Do Customers Say About Kidz Rocks? Calcite Rhomb, also called Iceland spar, is a transparent variety of calcite, or crystallized calcium carbonate, originally brought from Iceland, and used in demonstrating the polarization of light. It occurs in large readily cleavable crystals, easily divisible into rhombs, and is remarkable for its double refraction or in other causes objects viewed through a clear piece of calcite to appear doubled. Historically, the phenomena of this crystal were studied at length by Isaac Newton. It has been speculated that the Viking sunstone mentioned in medieval Icelandic texts was Iceland spar and that Vikings used its light-polarizing property to tell the direction of the sun on cloudy days, for ocean navigational purpose. Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The Mohs scale of mineral hardness, based on scratch hardness comparison, defines value 3 as "calcite". Calcite is derived from the German Calcit, a term coined in the 19th century from the Latin word for lime, calx (genitive calcis) with the suffix -ite used to name minerals. It is thus etymologically related to chalk. |
Optical calcite increases and amplifies energy. This makes it an excellent stone for distance healing, as well as other types of healing. One of the energies it amplifies is learning abilities, and thus is a great stone for students. Optical calcite works to clear and activate all of the chakras, improving the flow of energy throughout the subtle bodies. Meditation with optical calcite can help to improve one's perception of the physical world and of the self, creating a shift in those who experience predominantly negative emotions. Use optical calcite to clear away negative energy, and to amplify positive energy, and specifically, to help remove fear-based emotions, bringing more optimism into one's experience. Calcite is also known as the "stone of the mind." Calcite heightens mental discernment and analysis, increases memory and learning abilities. Calcite is THE stone for students and academics, and can be indispensable at helping students to retain their lessons. Calcite is also useful during times of mental adjustments and disagreements. Calcite can show you a new way to look at a situation, easing you away from old, outdated thought patterns that may be in the way of new ideas. |
