The sensor is connected to the thermostat with a capillary tube. These thermostats sense the temperature of the air entering an HVAC system and are commonly mounted inside the casing of the system. These are dual-temperature thermostats, so users can determine different temperature setpoints to save energy when a building, such as a school or office, is unoccupied. When the supply pressure to the unit changes, the thermostat automatically switches between the setpoint temperatures. These pneumatic thermostats are powered by compressed air.
