Arthur Harry Moore Governor of New Jersey 1927 Signed Photo Card & Envelope
Arthur Harry Moore (July 3, 1877 - November 18, 1952) was an American Democratic politician who served as the 39th governor of New Jersey, serving three terms between 1926 and 1941. He was the longest-serving New Jersey Governor in the 20th century and the only New Jersey Governor elected to serve three separate non-consecutive terms. Moore represented New Jersey in the United States Senate from January 3, 1935, to January 17, 1938, when he stepped down to begin his third term as Governor of New Jersey. As governor, Moore attained national prominence when he took charge of the investigation into the Lindbergh kidnapping in 1932. After retiring as governor, Moore resumed his legal practice in Jersey City.

a) 10" x 6" Card with printed photo of A. Harry Moore with Thomas Alva Edison. Card is hand written by the New Jersey Governor, signed and dated on November 9, 1927. Name and address of collector on the back. Condition: Very Good - (Foxing, light water stains, mounting remnants on back)
b) Front cover and partial back cover of postal envelope used to send the card, with State of New Jersey heading, postmarked from Trenton, NJ,on November 12, 1927. Cover has 3 New Jersey Executive seals. Condition: Very good - (Missing postage stamp)

Provenance: From the collection of Alejandro Zorrilla de San Martin (birth: Montevideo, Uruguay, September 21, 1880 - death: Montevideo, Uruguay: December 12, 1941), who spent over 20 years collecting autographs mainly from prominent political figures worldwide. He used to send blank cards with a newspaper or magazine clipped photo of the person, attaching a letter asking for an autograph and including a self-addressed envelope.
