This item is an item I have kept for years. It came from a relative of Sheldon Cheney, the historian, author and collector, and it was part of her bequest from the Estate of Sheldon Cheney.  I believe this to be African, but he studied world sculpture. One of many books which related to the arts and culture, was Sculpture of the World: A History, The Viking Press, New York (1968)

    This head  measures roughly 6 by 7 inches, and is basically in the shape of a sphere. It has losses in the sand casting 1750 grams.
