The Florentine pattern was first introduced by Wedgwood in 1874, with its most famous iteration being produced in 1931 – the much-loved Florentine Turquoise.

Part of the enormously successful Florentine range of patterns which feature medieval griffins in many different colours, Florentine has been a Wedgwood mainstay since its inception until today, although only one Florentine pattern is still being made (the Wedgwood Florentine Turquoise pattern). 

In contrast to other series of patterns in which the colour change is incidental, in Florentine the colour is crucial. Florentine Gold is a luscious, lavish pattern with a heavy gilded presence designed to make a statement of luxury and class, which it truly does.

Wedgwood is known around the world for its high-quality pottery and continues to innovate and introduce new designs. The company has received numerous awards for its designs and is a favourite of collectors and enthusiasts alike. 2024 marked 150 years of the iconic Florentine pattern.
