Anna Karenina, Count Lyof N. Tolstoi, 1st American Edition, Thomas Y. Crowell, 1886, Hardcover.  While not a 1st state, this is an early printing with the following points - 6 titles opposite the title page, publisher's device on title page, floral endpapers, address of 13 Astor Place on title page, 4 pages of ads in the back.  This book has a number of condition issues - several short tears to the page edges, 3 pages of ads are detached from the back of the book and the binding there is cracked, there is a spine lean, general wear to the page ends and boards, and fraying to the corners.  The spine ends have loss of material and chipping, and the head of the spine is split through the "ANNA" with the top piece attached and the rest loose (pictured above).  Please examine all of the pictures closely.  A well-worn copy, but rare and collectible nonetheless.
