It's an indirect design so you get close to perfect coverage even at edges of the diffuser, the softbox is actually larger than 90cm but the mask on the front is cut exactly for 90cm, it's a more generous measure than most other manufacturers.

The last benefit is this uses the standard Bowens speedring fitting so it's not much trouble to swap out Bowens for other systems like Bron or Profoto, this usually isn't so easily done on the good Indirect systems.

It's truly a shame there won't be any more of these made.

The Bowens Octo 90 Softbox with Bowens Adapter is a great choice for the photographer or videographer who's looking for a broad, flattering light source with unique fall-off characteristics for portraiture, fashion or events.

Octagonal-shaped light sources have a long reputation as the preferred portrait-shooter's light source. The shape's especially large surface area produces that much-touted "wrap-around" light, which envelops the subject while creating natural-looking catchlights in the eyes. The closer you get, the better it looks.

And the shape isn't the only unique thing about this softbox. For optimal softness with minimal hot spots on the front face, the light source faces the back of the silver interior. Two removable, reflective inserts are provided to cool or warm skin tones to your taste. The zip-up design sets up and breaks down quickly.

Bowens softboxes come with a 2-part speed ring - a basic ring accepts the rods and the included Bowens insert. There are also inserts available for most other flash head brands.
