History:

 

·       The Fantomet comic book series, featuring The Phantom, was published in Norway from July 1964 to December 2018, with a total of 1,217 issues. Known as Fantomet in Norway and Denmark, the character was depicted in a blue costume with red trunks. The numbering of each issue reset annually with the first release of the year.

 

·       The inaugural issue, published by Nordic Press in 1964, featured cover art by Rolf Gohs and contained 44 black-and-white pages measuring 17 cm x 26 cm. It included a Phantom story titled "The Doubles," originally created for Sweden's Fantomen series by Bertil Wilhelmsson, alongside a Texas Jim comic strip. Initially irregular in its release schedule, the series stabilized between 1970 and 2007, producing 25–27 issues annually. From 2008 onward, publication gradually declined until the series ended in December 2018.

·       Publishing rights shifted several times over its history. Nordic Press released eight issues between 1964 and 1965 before passing rights to Romanforlaget in 1966, which continued until 1972. Nordisk Forlag took over in 1973, followed by Semic AS in 1976 and Egmont Serieforlaget in 1998. Egmont Kids Media Nordic AS managed the series from 2013 until its conclusion in 2018.

 

·       While early editions were printed in black and white, the first full-color issue was released by Semic in 1991. The series often included other comic characters such as Mandrake the Magician, Flash Gordon, and The Spirit alongside Phantom stories. To commemorate its 30th anniversary, Semic/Nordisk Forlag reprinted the first issue as Fantomet Jubileumsspesial in 1994.

 

·       Throughout its run, Fantomet evolved both stylistically and culturally, becoming a significant part of Scandinavian comic book history.

 

Details:

 

·       As with the Swedish Fantomen comic books published by Semic, the Norwegian Fantomet series occasionally included collectible premiums with special issues, which are now highly sought after by collectors. Among the most notable items were the Skull and Good Mark rings, a figural keychain, and a mail-away Good Mark pendant. All Phantom merchandise produced in Scandinavia was exclusively licensed through Bulls, the sole licensee for over 70 years.

 

·       The 2nd issue Good Mark necklace/pendant was first advertised as a mail-away premium in Fantomet comic book issue #2, 1982

 

·       Finding sealed examples of these collectibles in today's market is particularly challenging, especially those still accompanied by their original packaging or header cards. Their rarity and condition make them prized items among Phantom enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.

Various tiers of shipping costs are determined by weight and size. I generally choose United States Postal Service “First Class Package International Service” as it provides a reasonably reliable tracking service. As with US domestic shipping, I also combine shipping costs for International orders. If you plan to purchase multiple items, at the same time please request an invoice prior to paying for any item.

Australian Buyers with alternate USA Address:

If you reside in Australia and you have an alternate US address for shipments, please contact us for such requests. All such orders will be processed as any other US domestic order.

Combined Shipping:

I do offer combined shipping for (ALL) customers, if you plan to purchase multiple items save them in you eBay “cart” and request an adjusted shipping cost from me prior to paying for each item individually. International buyers are responsible for paying the appropriate customs charges if such apply.

Package Preparation:

Your item(s) will be packed securely in sturdy packing and packaging material and mailed promptly after payment has been made. Our goal is for your items to arrive to you in the condition they left.

Return Policy: 

We do offer a 30-day return policy if you are dissatisfied with your order. We do however ask you to contact us directly to try to resolve any issues.
