Kniphofia galpinii
Kniphofia galpinii is a hardy clump-forming perennial with architectural
flower spikes which arise from elegant grass-like foliage. The slender flowers,
which are carried on strong stems, are soft orange-yellow with a redder tip.
They usually begin flowering
in early summer yet are often still showing colour as the season turns to
autumn so they provide a brilliant patch of colour late in the season when many
other flowering shrubs and plants are past their peak and beginning to fade.
An easy to grow, drought tolerant plant once established they do benefit from adding plenty
of grit & sand if your soil becomes water-logged over winter as they grow
best in a well drained soil.
Particularly
attractive to bees and other pollinators. Has been awarded the Royal
Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
Thrives in well drained soil in full sun.
Flowers June to September.
Maximum Height/Spread
approx. 60cm x 60cm.
Plants will be supplied well rooted and ready for immediate planting out. My plants are hard grown i.e. grown outside as soon as they have developed a strong enough root system to survive. This makes them stronger, healthier & more weather tolerant plants than those which have been grown on rapidly in artificial conditions in a greenhouse.

Plants will be removed from the pot, carefully packed & then sent in secure cardboard packaging to protect them whilst in the postal system. I offer a postage discount for multiple purchases dispatched to the same address. Highland, Island & Offshore delivery addresses may incur additional charges.
