This is "Essays from the Chap-Book", by various authors, in a first edition (same date on the title page and the publisher's page) published by Herbert S. Stone, Chicago, in 1896. This copy is inscribed on the title page and signed on p. 206 by Eve Blantyre Simpson, author of "R.L.S. - Some Ediburgh Notes". Other authors include John Burroughs, Mrs. Reginald de Koven, Edmund Gosse, R. H. Stoddard et al. This book exhibits an unusual (for this time) lithographic cover by A.E. Borie, lettering design by Claude Bragdon and gilt top edges. Printing is by the Lakeside Press, Chicago.Condition of this book is Very Good Minus; it is a ex-library volume de-acquisitioned from Albertus Magnus Library. There is a library bookplate on the LFEP, There is a perfin library stamp on the title page, and a card pocket on the RREP. Otherwise, there is some discoloration/rubbing to the boards and spine, and bumping to the corners. As advertised on the title page, a delightful book! Please see my other signed editions.
