Oil on canvas. Signed M.T and dated 68 to the lower left. Signed on verso: Mogens Thorsen. Dragor, 1968. This painting depicts a motif from Dragor, and captures the distinctive charm of the old town. known for its historic yellow-painted houses with red and pink rooftops, narrow streets, and proximity to the sea. Dragor, a seaside town south of Copenhagen, has long been a source of inspiration for Danish artists due to its picturesque atmosphere and maritime heritage. A fine oil by Danish artist, Mogens Thorsen (1924 - 2016) A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work.
Condition:
Ready to hang. In excellent condition. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the old age. Otherwise fine with no holes, tears or missing paint. The original salon frame has minor scratches due to the age.
Mogens Amdi Thorsen (1924 - 2016)
Listed Danish painter and illustrator. He resided on Dragor on the island of Amager in Denmark, where many of his paintings originates. He is best known for his idyllic depictions of harbors and seascapes. He was a popular illustrator and worked for the weekly Danish magazine: Familie Journalen. He also contributed to other major foreign magazine, like the Swedish: Hemmets Veckotidning. And the German: Frau im Spiegel
