Condition is as shown in photos, which are scans of the exact cards you will receive.  The lower numbers are mostly VG, but starting around card #50 the  condition on most cards moves up into the VG/EX to EX range. 

Unfortunately, there is writing on the Joe Louis card, upper left corner on the front.
