A firm, square text block and binding, a few minor marks to boards includinmg rear board. A small stain to fore edge. Very minor pushes to tips and spine ends. Some light toning to prelims. Faintest of fade to red portion of spine, some marks to rear panel of jacket and darkened to folds.
Overall, remains a bright, attractive copy, pages clean, and free of any ownership marks.
The concluding volume of his acclaimed Sword of Honour Trilogy, and also the conclusion of Waugh's career as a novelist, bar the jeu d'esprit of 'Basil Seal Rides Again', issued in 1963.
Acclaimed as one of the best novels to emerge from the war, the trilogy is filled with ironies, darker than many of his earlier satires, as his protagonist Guy Crouchback has his illusions of honour, service and Britain stripped away.
Very good + in very good + dust-jacket.
