It's hard to believe that this lovely "Lilli Ann Knit" suit that is in such immaculate condition is from the 1960s  - but all of our research indicates that is indeed when it was made. The addition of the VU label is a mystery - most likely VU was the retail outlet where the suit was once sold, either as new or as vintage. The suit comprises an oversized black jacket that is a combination of knit and woven fabrics and a black knit skirt. The jacket shell is woven in very wide ribs with tiny black beads filling in the separations between the ribs. The open jacket has no closure. It's wide collar and front lining are black knit, the collar being embellished with colorful silk floral embroidery just like you might see on a Japanese kimono. The black knit pencil skirt has the same embroidered flowers on both hips; it closes with a side zipper. There are no fabric labels, but we believe the woven portion of the jacket shell is wool or a wool blend, and the knit sections are wool, as is the skirt. The jacket is lined in both the black knit fabric and what looks like a rayon crepe. The skirt is lined in black rayon or a synthetic fabric. There also are no size labels, but the measurements indicate this suit is closest to a size 14 or 16. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual sizes and compare with similar garments that fit you.* JACKET MEASUREMENTS - Shoulder width is 18" - Underarm chest measurement is 46"  - Sides are 46" - Sleeve length is 19"  - Length is 28" down center back excluding collar. SKIRT MEASUREMENTS - Waist is 34" - Hips measure 40" with knit completely relaxed. Skirt lining measures almost 42" at 9" below waist. The knit fabric is very stretchy, so if you need a little more room in the hips, my advice would be to simply remove the lining. There is also enough seam allowance to let the skirt out an inch or two in the hips if needed.  - Length is 23" including waistband.  CONDITION Both jacket and skirt are in excellent condition with no apparent flaws. To avoid returns, do not rely only on the size label or estimated size to determine fit.  Always compare the actual measurements with those of a similar garment(s) that fits you. *Approximate measurements taken on exterior of garments unless otherwise noted.
