Created by German manufacturer Rosenthal GmbH, these glasses were first released in the early 1960s and continued to be produced for just under two decades. They feature a bold mid-century look: tall, straight sides and stout bases with the partly transparent gray/green color that gives them the latter part of their name. Each has the Rosenthal mark on one corner of the base, visible when turned at an angle. The pattern was created by company employee George Butler Jensen, who had previously worked with Raymond Loewy, often called the father of industrial design. (If you haven't heard that name, you undoubtedly still know his work, which includes the Coca-Cola bottle and many other iconic styles.)
Multiple sizes and shapes were created for the Linear Smoke pattern, and these are the rarest: the 9-inch tall beer/tea glasses. (Replacements.com incorrectly lists them as half an inch shorter. Yes, they are asking $59.99 per glass!) They're quite difficult to find as a set. As detailed in the Condition Description, they're all in great shape for being several decades old, though one has a shallow chip on one corner of its base. If you don't mind taking that one, I will refund $10 from the total cost of your order.
Three lots, comprising four glasses each, are available. They will be carefully packaged and fully covered with insurance. Note that I also have a large number of other glasses available. An entire set smaller than this sold for over $1,600 on Christies. If you'd like to purchase them multiple lots, feel free to get in touch.
Shipping Details
Any item that has free shipping will be noted as such in the item description. For all other items only the actual shipping charges are being automatically calculated by eBay based on your location, the weight, and the required box size. I reserve the right to select the shipping option from those listed for purchased items. Please review my store policies for pricing, shipping, and returns below.
Please note that sellers have little control over shipping costs, and all carriers steadily increase them. Also note that eBay deducts its fee not only from the sale price, but also from any shipping amount paid to the seller. In other words, sellers lose money on eBay through the shipping costs.
