The STEVE ROPER comic strip was in print from 1936 to 2004.  The strip was 

created by Allen Saunders and first illustrated by Elmer Woggon.  Over the years, 

the title of the strip changed, along with the protagonists.  It can be found entitled

as BIG CHIEF WAHOO, CHIEF WAHOO, CHIEF WAHOO AND STEVE ROPER, 

STEVE ROPER AND WAHOO, STEVE ROPER, and STEVE ROPER AND MIKE NOMAD.  

In the 1970’s Saunders’ son, John, assumed the scripting for the duration of the strip.  

Other artists associated with this strip include Pete Hoffman, William Overgard and Fran Matera.
