This is a signed photo of Gene Tenace (born 1946),
who played catcher for the Oakland Athletics
when they won three consecutive World Series
championships in 1972, 1973, and 1974.
Tenace became the first player in baseball history
to hit home runs in his first two World Series at bats.
In the 1972 Series, which I well remember watching
on television, he went 8-for-23, with four home runs
and nine RBIs.
After the Athletics won that World Series by beating
the Cincinnati Reds four games to three, Tenace was
chosen the 1972 World Series Most Valuable Player.
In his thirteen year career, Tenace twice finished
in the top twenty in American League MVP voting.
He was selected to the All Star team in 1975, and
had a total of 201 home runs.
The autograph is in black ink on a 10" by 8" b/w photo.
The photo is in fine condition. It comes with a
certificate of authenticity from JG Autographs.
