Name: Frère Jacques(Are You Sleeping? Brother John)
Transform your nursery or child's room with this antique le
style moderne French children's music book print and lyrics. This charming hand
painted print exudes a nostalgic and whimsical vibe, perfect for a nursery or
kid's room decor. Ideal for parents, teachers, and vintage book enthusiasts.
Relevant for nursery decorations, children's birthdays, baby showers, and
French fairy tale lovers.
This is a four-page folio from Chansons D'Autrefois
(Songs of Yesteryear) Georges Ihoth & Andre Collot (illustrator) 1920s
French Children's Rhymes. This striking and luminous print has been
enhanced and highlighted with hand-painted colors, truly couleur audacieuse!
The interior two pages of the folio feature the music and words of the
associated song.
This is a double folding sheet (4 pages). On the first page
there is a color engraving (watercolor stencil) 17.5 x 17.5 cm (7 inches by 7 inches ) with the
title of the song at the bottom in large black characters. Page 2 (back of the
engraving) contains the score of the song with the lyrics. Page 3 contains the
text of the song. Page 4 includes a vignette drawn by André Collot (printed in
black). The overall sheet is 27 cm wide by 24.5 cm high. ( 9 3/4 by 10 3/4 inches)
I have included photos here of the title pages for the
folio for your information only. They do not come with this print.
Please note that the first photograph of this shows how the print might look if it was matted. It DOES NOT come with a mat or frame. The actual full page size is 9 3/4 inches high by 10 3/4 inches wide. If you wanted to cut the print down, the illustration itself would be suitable for a standard 10" by 8" frame. You could also have a custom mat made. The illustrated area (excluding the title) is 6.75 inches wide by 7 inches high.
Please carefully note that while the illustrations are in
superb shape, the paper and inside pages reflect some appropriate
age yellowing and the paper may have other minor spotting, age spots or
wear. Please look carefully at the photos. I also have a
second print of this which has more yellowing. Happy to send a photo of
the second print and you can choose. The margins around the other print
are slightly smaller, but the image and title are the same size.
