Vintage Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Golden Anniversary Medallion:  Front has fraternity emblem/crest in center with date 1901 to left and 1951 to the right, "FRATERNITY GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY" encircling crest and "**SIGMA PHI EPSILON**CONCLAVE*RICHMOND" encircling rim; blank reverse side, in good shape with usual age wear and tarnish, measures approx 3" diameter (see pic's for greater detail).

Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded at Richmond College in the early 20th Century, Richmond College was a small religious institution of around 200 students.  Between a third to one half belonged to five fraternities already established there.  On October 22, 1902 Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity was chartered by the State of Virginia, which converted the local fraternity into a national fraternity that could be chartered on other campuses around the nation.  Note:  This is a brief summary of how the Fraternity was established, but not a full and complete summary of facts.
