Being offered on this auction is beautiful figurine made by Lorenz Hutschenreuther, Selb, Bavaria. It is called Kleiner Flötenspieler (Little Flute Player). This is model number 1099. It features Putto Playing Flute as a part of four Angels’ Concert (Engelkonzert) figures. He is seating on sort of the natural chair made out of tree brunches. His feet are supported by large ball placed on round pedestal. His hair is covered by forehead band with flower. The ball is all gold. Pedestal is outlined with gold ring. Also outlined with gold are flower on his hair band and his flute. The tree branches are outlined with light green. There is also a light green button at the center of his hair band. Figurine is fully glazed. Looks splendid. Hutschenreuther was well known as one of the greatest porcelain figurine makers for about 200 years. Its most famous Lion mark is a symbol of high quality and artistic design. Hutschenreuther’s art department was established in 1917. Nowadays, the Lion mark is under umbrella of Rosenthal Group. This figurine is marked on the backside with standard gold production mark of Art Department used in c. 1946 - 1948.

Three famous artists, K. Tutter, C. Werner, and G. R. Granget designed their Angels’ Concert series. Karl Tutter (1883 – 1969) designed this figurine. There is ‘K. TUTTER’ incised on the backside. He was a leading designer for Hutschenreuther during almost forty years. He received his education in art in Austria and originally worked as a painter. His passion for porcelain came much later. After World War I he spent about six years as a prisoner of war in Siberia and worked as a modeler in Chabarovsk. He joined Hutschenreuther in 1922 as a sculptor. Later he emerged to china design and his works bought him world recognition. His passion was sculpture. He was the best in controlling plastic forms in Hutschenreuther and his imagination had no boundaries. His figurines remain the most collectible.

Figurine measures about 1 1/4” in diameter of the pedestal and stands 3 1/4” tall. Condition is immaculate with no cracks or chips found. Colors are bright and vibrant. Gold has no wear. Please take a look at he pictures to find out more about this item.
