Handsome fold-out 1973 Chevron Oil road map of California, printed more than 50 years ago.

The map opens to 18" x 34½" and has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by H.M. Gousha.

There are inset plans of San Francisco and Los Angeles.

I-40 had just opened when this map was printed, but U.S. Route 66 was still signed between Needles and Upland.

On the reverse side there are photos of scenic attractions along the "Chevron Trail," including San Simeon, Santa Barbara, Death Valley, Sacramento, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe.

The map was distributed by the Standard Oil Company of California to promote its Chevron brand and is dated 1973 in the legend. The code number in the lower margin is 8-UU.
