"SAVE YOUR CHILD!"
Original World War 1(WW1) Poster
by Herbert Paus titled,
As every World War 1 Poster collector knows, this was the age of stone lithography, but this very beautiful but time consuming and cumbersome technique would begin to be replaced by cheaper and faster printing processes at the end of the war. While faster and cheaper as desired, the loss of stone lithography ended the most beautiful and detailed art process we may have ever had.
This particular poster is a very novel composition using the Statue of Liberty next to this very young child as painted by one of the finest WWI poster artists, Herbert Paus. As with all posters of that time it was used to appeal to everyone to buy War Stamps, bonds, or to save resources for the troops. The visual imagery create by the great artists of that time is often given credit for the tremendous support the United States got from everyone, and this support allowed us to enter the war at a super fast pace. And to ulttimately win the first world War!
