Very Useful 950+ carats Boulder Opal Chunk (With Nuts/Patterns) + Thinner Preform Slice. Heavy Chunk of Ironstone Boulder Opal with at least 2 large nuts - plenty of colours and nice patterns. Large nuts have good blue/purple play of colour showing in places, maybe with some greens around 1. Should make several nice pendants (both should take a good polish as they are hard ironstone) if sliced up or keep as a nice specimen. Certainly worth slicing in half vertically in middle of 2 larger nuts (to make 2 large pendants maybe) and cutting off conglomerate/sandstone section on 1 side and exploring for smaller nuts/pods in it. Winner decides...
Plenty of Purple/Blue/Green play of colour (including bright on sides) in outsides of large chunk, maybe more colours inside. Preform slice has Purple/Blue/Green with bits of Gold/Orange/Red play of colour and is mainly hard sandstone/ironstone with some nice veins/matrix colour. Also a hard sandstone section on lower side of big chunk and that could make another slice like the one already taken from the top and included in this deal...
PLEASE NOTE: many pictures and the video are taken with the stones wet to help show colour of opal as it would appear after polishing. Video taken in sunlight as are some pictures.
NOTE: Sawing (with a trim/tile saw) next to the seams and rubbing down can be an alternative to splitting the seams (especially if the opal does not travel across the rough and/or is not striaght). Also if you are unsure if the seam will split then better to saw next to it. DONT saw along seams, especially thin seams - saw blades can cut 2-3mm wide or more (double/treble the saw blade width) so you CAN LOSE EVERYTHING. Use diamond cutting wheels and practice on less promising stones first...
