This adaptor will only give around half the battery life of my '12AA to PP9' adaptor (available in my other listing) but does have the advantage of being able to use both ordinary 1.5v or rechargeable 1.2v batteries.
AA to PP9 ADAPTOR for 1.5volt or 1.2volt AA BATTERIES.
Ideal to replace the now hard to find PP9 battery in Vintage Transistor Radios and other low power devices.
For ordinary (1.5volt) batteries this adaptor uses 6 batteries with 2 placeholder cells. (Only one of the yellow placeholder cells is shown in the pictures but two are included)
For rechargeable (1.2volt) batteries either 7 or 8 cells can be used to get an 8.4v or 9.6v output. NiMH batteries are recommended.
Please Note that Lithium cells are Not Suitable for these Adapters.
The placeholder cells are easy to remove to switch between battery types.
I have been running my own Roberts and Hacker radios on 9.6volts for many years. After doing some testing these last few months I've found that 8.4volts seems to work just as well. You should in theory get a shorter battery life, but to be honest I've not really noticed this with any of my radios.
The Eveready PP9 battery is shown for size comparison only and is not included in the sale.
The AA batteries shown inside the adaptor are also not included.
