National Instruments SCB-68A Shielded I/O Connector Block

The SCB-68A by National Instruments is a versatile shielded I/O connector terminal block designed for interfacing I/O signals with plug-in data acquisition devices featuring 68-pin connectors. It is perfect for industrial applications where signal integrity is vital because of its shielded architecture, which guarantees low-noise signal termination.

The mechanical casing of this terminal block has been modified, and it now has a magnetic removable top for easier access, DIN-rail mount compatibility for flexible installation options, and a resettable fuse for enhanced protection against power surges. It is compatible with a wide variety of devices and offers 68-pin connectors for both single- and dual-connector Multifunction I/O.

A notable characteristic of the SCB-68A is the inclusion of two general-purpose breadboard regions, which facilitate easy prototyping and modification. To accommodate thermocouples, it also has an integrated cold-junction compensation sensor that allows for accurate temperature measurements.

The temperature sensor on the SCB-68A has an accuracy of ±1.0 °C across a range of 0 to 70 °C It is energy-efficient because, under normal circumstances, it has a modest power consumption of 1 mA.. To ensure that there is enough power for functioning, it can only take up to 800 mA from the host computer.

All I/O signals are readily accessible thanks to its 68 screw terminals, which accommodate wire gauges ranging from 14 to 30 AWG. To ensure a secure connection, the torque required to secure terminals ranges from 0.5 to 0.6 N⋅m (4.4–5.3 in.⋅lb). Through-hole pads offer more wiring arrangement freedom with a diameter of 0.8 to 0.9 mm.

The SCB-68A provides flexible installation options, as it can be mounted to a panel or conventional DIN rail or used for desktop use. Easy mounting is made possible by three keyholes on the back, which also improve ease during installation.
