I count 42 matchbooks. 

Comes in box. Never used. Stored away for decades.  

Exact age is unknown, but I believe this was made for the Congress election in the mid to late 1960s. 

Background: Howard Edwin Ed Reinecke - American Politician 
39th state Lieutenant governor 1969-1974
resigned in 1974 as a result of the connection with Federal conviction of perjury. Watergate - era scandal
