This vintage cocktail dress (early 1980s) from Geoffrey Beene appears to be a charming black silk shift dress enhanced with silver lamè trim and fancy sleeves. However, the front panel of the dress is open on the left side to expose a beautiful "lining" of semi-sheer black chiffon woven with silver lamè, the same fabric that is used for the sleeves. The dress is finished with silver lamè binding all of the edges of the dress. It is a pullover style with shoulder pads This dress is too early to have fabric and size labels, but both the outer shell and chiffon fabrics are undoubtedly silk.
