This extremely supple, sophisticated leather is named after Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to Gulliver calfskin, which is no longer featured in today's collections.

The story behind

A wedding gift from Jean Guerrand, Émile Hermès’ son-in-law, to one of his future daughters-in-law, this day-to-night clutch has a full-grained leather H heart. Named after the initials of its inventor, the Jige has been, since 1975, a symbol of union of love, as illustrated by its delicate, pared-down H clasp.
