this is hands down the best anthology and a set of records I've ever had!
I did not notice any problems with the mastering and pressing besides side A, which has slight distortion when listening on higher volume. Bernie Grundman did as best he could to bring the music back to life and back to life they are. The soundstage and depth is there, clear separation of intruments, no noise whatsoever.
The records are beautifully packaged in tip-on glossy sleeves with high quality images. The box is coupled with a series of podcasts and a booklet which probably has more information and facts about the label than I could find online.
Ladies and gentlemen, can we just take a step back and soak in the grand panorama here? Imagine, for a moment, owning a collection of seven albums that were once distant dreams on vinyl, were it not for the unwavering dedication of the fine folks at VMP.
Instead of revelling in the hours of meticulously mastered melodies and the fine artworks that are the album sleeves, we find ourselves in the company of some rather pitiful souls, zooming in on several seconds of barely noticeable hiss here and there. Do you honestly believe that Bernie Grundman, a mastering maestro, would have let these imperfections slide unless they posed a threat to the sacred essence of the music? Source material remains just that – the source material.
And then we've got another so-called expert pointing fingers at VMP for the mild warping that likely occurred after the box set left the pressing plant. As for those occasional ticks and pops that dance like mischievous imps upon our vinyl grooves, how about holding a high-quality microfiber cloth under a tap, giving it a good squeeze, and tenderly caressing each record with it?
To all you groaners and complainers out there, it's high time you acquired a life. Revel in the music and count your blessings that you have been granted the opportunity. A heartfelt salute to VMP for birthing this box set – a treasure chest of sonic ecstasy that now stands as one of my most cherished possessions.

The group included Wendell Harrison, Phil Ranelin, Marcus Belgrave, Harold McKinney, Roy Brooks, Charles Moore, and Doug Hammond amongst others. Besides the record label, Tribe held a publishing house for a magazine and a production company under its roof.
