This exceptional example depicts an Edo chief or Oba from Benin. This masterfully hand crafted piece has been exceptionally well executed with exquisite attention to detail. The Oba's smooth polished face is beautifully contrasted by the intricately detailed textured headdress, creating a pleasing freestanding form which is a delight to behold.

This piece has been hand carved from one solid piece of dense, dark exotic timber which is believed to be ebony. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
