Andy Warhol - Flowers 11.71 (Sunday B. Morning). Screenprint + COA. Pop Art

Screen print on museum board paper after Andy Warhol and published by Sunday B. Morning. Inscriptions on the back: "Published by Sunday B. Morning" and "Fill in your own signature". These prints are found in Feldman & Schellmann's "Andy Warhol's Catalogue Raisonne". Certificate of authenticity issued by Sunday B. Morning included. Warhol’s strong connection to fashion and graphic design is evident in the Flowers series. Before becoming a celebrated artist, Warhol worked as a commercial illustrator for fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, developing a keen eye for trends and aesthetics. The bright, contrasting colors and the simplified, flattened shapes of Flowers closely align with the bold visuals of 1960s graphic design and psychedelic art. This intersection between art and fashion became even more evident when Flowers inspired high fashion designers. In 1970, Yves Saint Laurent incorporated Warhol’s floral motifs into one of his haute couture collections, further blurring the line between fine art and fashion. Later, in the 1990s, designers such as Gianni Versace and Marc Jacobs also drew inspiration from Warhol’s work, demonstrating its lasting impact on the industry. Additionally, Warhol himself was deeply involved in the fashion scene. He frequently attended runway shows, collaborated with designers, and even founded Interview magazine, a publication that bridged the worlds of art, fashion, and celebrity culture. His Flowers series can be seen as an extension of this dialogue—an exploration of how imagery, like trends in fashion, can be endlessly reproduced, repurposed, and commodified.
