Restored Antique Cast Iron Georgian Fireplace Surround / Hob Grate

A barn find from a farm in Cheshire.

The grate has been stripped and polished with Liberian Iron Paste to give a lovely metallic shine. There was a small hole, most likely heat/fire damage in one bar, and a couple of small casting holes, all of which have been filled before polishing. It’s structurally sound. Two discreet fixing loops at the back.

The grate is most likely Georgian, but doesn’t have any identification marks. It’s very heavy!

The grate is old and had a life, it’s therefore not perfect.
