About “Ikeda Zuigetsu”
Ikeda Zuigetsu (1877-1944) was born in 1878 in Ishikawa, the child of a carpenter. He then went to Kyoto in 1906 to study under Kijima Sakuraya. Around 1910, he opened a painting school in Kanazawa. Around this time, he began to work on sketching plants and made sketches of plants all over Japan.
