A history of the Corsican Pocket Watch:
Along with the "C.H. Hulburd" models, the "Corsican" was Elgin's top-of-the-line watch and housed a unique, extra-thin 12-size movement. All of the "Hulburd" and "Corsican" models were cased in solid gold or platinum. This is one of only a handful known to exist in solid white gold. The "Corsican" line was named for French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (born on the island of Corsica), and the bow and hands are shaped in the silhouette of Napoleon's famous campaign hat, and the watches were advertised as such by Elgin. This example is in crisp, excellent condition showing almost no wear. All the engraved case designs are sharp and the white gold case exhibits most of its lined finish. The inner cuvette is signed "Lord Elgin" and "Corsican Model". The original frosted white dial is excellent. Original gold hands bear the unique Napoleon silhouette at the ends. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel ultra-thin Lord Elgin grade 450 movement, just serviced and running strong.
