A romantically engraved antique Victorian 9k gold floral locket pendant with 'EA' initials and hallmarked to 1877.

This exquisite Victorian solid 9k yellow gold locket has breathtaking carving on both front and back, the front with a fabulous Celtic style endless love knot with intertwined scrolling hearts and floral scrolls throughout with a central diamond-shape plaque romantically engraved with the initials 'EA' with every surface around the knot covered with unbelievably intricate little floral engravings, the reverse with an incredible floral scene with lovely flowers and scrolling leaves all over with yet further tiny floral engravings between, the top with an attached hanging loop and large bail, the edges detailed with fabulous gold engraved line decorations all around-absolutely FANTASTIC! The locket has English hallmarks with maker 'W.J.F.', '9 .375', the Birmingham anchor and date letter 'C' for 1877, the bail is also stamped '9 .375' and the inside '.375'. The locket tests for 9k* gold and has the usual various base metal elements to the inside structure.

The locket measures about 45mm x 28mm including the bail. The bail will hold an approximate 6mm chain. The total weight of the locket is approximately 8.0 grams.
 

The locket is in excellent condition with no damage and light wear. The hinge works well and the locket closes with a tight snap.

Please note, most of our beautiful jewelry is vintage and antique and was therefore made by jewelers in periods where the technology wasn't available to consistently produce gold content to the exact karat these pieces are marked as. We work hard to test our items for gold content correctly, however the age of our pieces means gold content can occasionally be slightly lower to slightly higher than the stamped mark/advertised karat content.

We make great efforts to honestly and accurately describe each item we list. We back this up with many photographs, all with a close-up zoom option for detailed inspection. Due to the majority of our items being antique/vintage and often unique it can be difficult to determine age and as such all our items are sold 'as is'. However, if we are not certain about the age of an item we will either not mention an age or say the item is being sold as a later or modern piece and then leave it up to more experienced buyers to determine the exact age. Items are not returnable if it was not of the age/value you were hoping it to be with no exceptions. If we place a date on an item we guarantee it to be of that period or earlier. If you require further pictures or more information about an item, please let us know prior to bidding or purchase. Items cannot be returned for any condition issues either shown in the pictures or mentioned in the listing. As many items we sell are one hundred years or older we will not accept returns for wear consistent with the item's age. Any item mentioned as sold 'as is' in the listing will not be eligible for any form of return or refund.
