This is a sweet handmade ragdoll dated 1949. On the back of the doll, under her dress there is some writing in pencil. It's difficult to read but I can decipher 'Shirley' and '1949' . Everything else is up for interpretation. I think there is a second name 'Johnny' but I cannot be certain. Please see photos. The body of the doll is made from a cotton weave fabric with clothes and facial features made with different colors of felt. Her hair appears to be made from yellow yarn. Blue yarn was used to demark hands, feet and neck. She even has rosy pink cheeks! Other than a little surface dirt, she is in great condition considering she is 74 years old! She would be perfect for any young child, a doll collector or someone who perhaps had a doll like this when they were a child. She measures 10.75" long x 6.5 inches wide. Her dress and hat are glued to the body. The stand shown in the photos is not included.
