Chromium oxide (III) (chemical formula - Cr2O3) is a solid fine powder of  green color. Also known as chrome green. Its useful physical and chemical properties are high hiding power, resistance to light and the action of aggressive gases, and weather resistance. The compound of chromium with oxygen is insoluble in water, almost insoluble in alkalis and dilute acids. At the same time, it is so hard that it can damage the surface of quartz.

Chromium oxide is used in the paint and varnish industry, the production of building materials, for polishing processes in the watch, instrument-making and machine-building industries.
