A large French art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by Henri Mouynet made around 1930. Henri took over the business of his father Marcel Mouynet. Henri was a producer of bronze and forged iron lighting fixtures. He had a large company in Paris working mainly in a neo-classical style but he made lamps sconces and chandeliers in modern (art déco) style as well. In 1926 he built a huge building at 11 rue Etienne Marcel prolongée (nowadays named Roger Verlomme street). After the crisis he was forced to sell it. H. Markhbeinn who had a business importing and distributing Bohemian glasses from Eastern Europe bought the place in 1937.

For his fixtures Mouynet mainly used shades in pressed glass made by Cristalleries de Verdun. But several models with shades by Degué and Noverdy are known as well. Mouynet had a few shades exclusively designed and made for him on command by the glass factories of Charles Schneider and Degué. The shades used for the chandelier on offer were made for Mouynet by Degué. All thirteen shades are signed H. Mouynet.

This stunning chandelier was made around 1930 in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. The large mount holds a central bowl six panels and six side-shades in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. Note the beautiful match of the decoration of shades and bronze mount. A rare masterpiece of French art deco lighting.

The chandelier has a drop of 102 cm (40,16 inches) and a diameter of 87 cm (34,25").  It is in excellent condition. The mounting has been re-nickeled and patinated and it is newly wired. It holds fifteen American candelabra base sockets. For European countries I will place E14 ones.

The chandelier will be shipped in several parcels with full insurance by priority airmail. The mount is too large to ship with Dutch Post/USPS so I must send it with UPS or another carrier. Beware you will be charged for import duties.
