Mercedes Benz Ponton gasoline fuel filter housing

This is not for the cars with a fuel reserve (220S).

Uses the Knecht Micronic EK443 filter.

There is a spring inside that should be stretched to push the filter into place.

I think:
The filter with a screw in screen is for diesel (compression ignition) engines.
The filter with an easily removable filter is for gasoline (spark ignition) engines.

 

The very early Pontons used a fine thread on the pipe fittings for the filter.  It was easy to cross thread.  This has the standard thread, used on most Pontons.  My 1954 180's filter has the fine thread.
