The larger versions of the Bowie are designed first and foremost for fighting, first made famous in the early 19th century by James Bowie in what’s known as the Sandbar Fight. Later they were used as combat and survival knives for U.S. troops and pilots. The compact versions like this are more versatile. The clip point profile is effective for cutting, chopping, piercing and slashing and excellent for a myriad of tasks.
