Available is an incredibly rare front page and eight page sports section that came from a November 19, 1905 Detroit Free Press newspaper. The pages extensively document Michigan's victory over Wisconsin by a score of 12-0. Through 11 games, Michigan had scored 420 points in 552 minutes.

On November 18, 1905, Wisconsin traveled to Ann Arbor. In front of a crowd estimated at nearly 18,000 people, Michigan won by a score of 12-0. During the second half, a temporary bleacher with 2,000 persons on it collapsed. Three or four spectators sustained "more or less severe injuries," but none were killed. A warning was given before the collapse that the timber was weakening, the statement was reported to have not been taken seriously. Frank Longman scored both of Michigan's touchdowns, and Tom Hammond converted on both point after touchdown kicks.

The game was played in halves of 35 minutes each. Through 11 games, Michigan had scored 420 points in 552 minutes. Michigan's starting lineup was Garrels (left end), Curtis (left tackle), Schulte (left guard), Schultz (center), Graham (right guard), Rheinschild (right tackle), H. Hammond (right end), Norcross (quarterback), Weeks (left halfback), T. Hammond (right halfback), Longman (fullback).


Condition

These newspaper pages are in very good condition. However, the pages should still be treated as delicate and handled with care upon receipt. These newspaper pages originally came from a bound library volume and may exhibit slight chipping and paper loss on the edges. Additional minor paper loss could occur during shipment.

Domestic Shipping

The pages will be placed in a clear plastic sleeve and gently rolled and inserted into a sturdy cardboard tube. Single newspaper pages can be shipped via First Class Mail. Please specify if expedited Priority Mail is desired. I will combine shipping but additional newspaper pages may require Priority Mail shipping due to total package weight.

I can ship several pages using First Class International Postage. Any additional pages may require Priority Mail International shipping depending on total package weight.
