This is an original, very rare Peterson's September 1887 ladies magazine sewing pattern supplement sheet. The original magazine is not present but I was able to hunt down a scan of the original magazine page illustrating the pattern.

The design is simply an extraordinary find - a "Redfern" Jacket. Redfern and Sons was a Couture house that styled itself as a "Ladies' Tailor". "By 1882 Redfern was successful in becoming Tailors by Appointment for the Princess of Wales and by 1885 had become Tailors by Appointment for Queen Victoria and Queen Emma of the Netherlands, among others.

No size is given but patterns like these were typically given in a 34-36" bust size.

The pattern sheet supplement is one-sided with 1 complete sewing pattern drawn out on one end and a beautiful embroidery pattern for several different lotus, dragonfly, and floral motifs at the other end. A printed copy of the magazine page is included with the pattern.

Condition: The pattern sheet is very crisp and strong with some wear, wrinkling, and small tears at fold lines.
