Persicaria amplexicaulis ‘Firetail’ - ex 9cm (P9) Pot
Persicaria ‘Firetail’ or Bistorta ‘Firetail’ as it is also known has long spikes of tiny fluffy crimson-red flowers from mid summer to early autumn. It is a clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial with lance-shaped, pointed, leaves which form carpets of low leafy foliage which makes excellent weed-suppressing ground cover. A low maintenance plant which works well in most planting schemes. Plant it in bold swathes to add vertical interest in the border right through till mid autumn. Attractive to bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Flowers July to
October.
Thrives best in a
moist but well drained or poorly drained soil in sun or partial shade.
Maximum height/spread approx 120cm x 120cm.
Plants will be supplied well rooted and ready for immediate planting out. My plants are hard grown i.e. grown outside as soon as they have developed a strong enough root system to survive. This makes them stronger, healthier & more weather tolerant plants than those which have been grown on rapidly in artificial conditions in a greenhouse.
Postage & Delivery
Plants will be removed from the pot, carefully packed & then sent in secure cardboard packaging to protect them whilst in the postal system. I offer a postage discount for multiple purchases dispatched to the same address. When you buy more than one item you will pay the full postage cost for the first item only, then a discounted rate for each extra item purchased (please see 'postage and payments' tab above for full details). I use Royal Mail for small orders whilst orders over 2kg will be sent by carrier so the MAXIMUM postage you pay need only be £9.95 for any amount of plants. Highland, Island & Offshore delivery addresses may incur additional charges.
PLEASE NOTE - Plants will only be dispatched by either Royal Mail 1st Class or carrier to minimize the amount of time spent in the postal system. Plants will be dispatched by Royal Mail on the Monday to Thursday following receipt of cleared funds (to avoid plants sitting in the sorting depot over the weekend) and by carrier on the Monday to Wednesday.
