This is a rare and very decorative view of the Escorial palace near Madrid. This genuine copper engraving was published by Abraham Ortelius (1527 - 1598) heirs in the year 1603. The engraving from the so called "Parergon" atlas shows a detailed depiction of the vast building complex. It measures 37 x 48 cm (platesize) and is in good condition with some light browning due to age. Van den Broecke No. 233 - 1603XL.
