Rapunzel, Rapunzel,
Let down your golden hair.

Here we offer the 1891 third printing of the children's classic illustrated collection, The Red Fairy Book, by Andrew Lang and published by Longmans, Green, and Company, London.  This is a stated third edition, which in this time and place translates to a first edition, third printing. It is notable for its striking gilt-engraved decorative cover featuring Jack and the giant.  Gilt page edges all the way around (to keep dust out.)

Original spine remnants have been reapplied atop new red spine cloth and a red placeholding ribbon has been added.  Boards are soiled and worn at edges (please see pics.)  Hinges are very secure. Intact endpapers bear a period bookseller label and the first blank flyleaf bears a pen-and-ink inscription.  A few light stains/foxing within.  Very tight and square binding; very clean, bright, and crisp text and illustrations.  367 pages, plus 4 pages of ads; measures approximately 7.5 x 5-inches.

This very special first will make a wonderful addition to your collection or a very special and thoughtful gift.
